In her book, Wander Women: Guidance for the goal-driven woman, Marcia Reynolds, Psy, D. identifies how women choose a partner. Reynolds says that women will either prefer an emotional secure man (The Knight) or a financial secure man (The King).

Lately, I have found myself becoming annoyed with delays and obstacles in my schedule. With a to-do list with zero room for error or interruption, there is no question in my mind of why I am annoyed. I have plans and goals and I intend to accomplish them.

Life can be unpredictable, full of surprises and sometimes seem out of control or chaotic. I have recognized a pattern in life – when one shoe falls, the other goes with it. If there is one storm that comes through, it seems another one follows on its tail.

Researcher, Andrew Shatte (watch his amazing Tedx talk) has shown us that the resilience to thrive in life is found in the ability to connect with something greater than ourselves. A connection to people outside our homes, a connection to our communities, our nation, our world, and our greater purpose.

Romans 9:17 (NIV) says, “…I raised you up for this very purpose [EIS], that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” The Greek word for purpose is EIS. By definition it means: Towards.

One of my professors at Gonzaga University has given me a challenge by posing this question:

Although every generational cohort experiences a variation of potential detractors, imagine how social media, speed of communication, and interactive games are shaping a new set of life skills applied to reconstruct meaning during adversity or mundane moments.

I am mad and fed up. Fed up with the expectation that culture and media impresses on women. Mad that women all over the world doubt their worth because of the way they look or because of the shape of their bodies.

How did I arrive on this soap box today?

I have always believed that you have the power under the tip of your pen to inspire others to do great things! Your words and thoughts are important to the world! It was when I read Melody Ross’ statement of belief on her website, “Brave Girls” that I felt something come alive in my spirit.
